MCT Club oh Malaysia Tech Update no2

As the dark shadows of rain clouds started to gather, there was a shimmering light hovering over the mid sky.

The 29th floor to be exact.

As we walk towards the light, we were greeted by a angel like being!.. but something wasn't right... this being... wore a tie!... It was none other than our MVP, Poo Ching Loong!

Phew...

Yesterday was our second event. We plan to schedule this monthly and so far its been going great!

The session was on Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and what's in it. And it was conducted by Microsoft's Most Valuable Professional in Exchange... Mr. Poo!!... (applause)

As usual the event kicked off sharp at 7.30pm and we had a crowd of about 19 people this time. This is good news!! people actually want to come and listen to us :)

Poo shared valuable information about what's going to be in the upcoming Exchange Server SP1 such as OWA Monthly Calendar View, Public Folder Management, Digital Certs and most importantly the updated Disaster Recovery features of LCR, CCR and SCR. (Poo!! see.. I was paying attention..)

It was truly a good update as we know what's coming out even before the SP1 is even released.

Poo showed us some cool demos as well as the video on how the DR would be done.

He is a true magician in the Exchange circle.

We ended at about 8.45pm to a rounding applause. Good job Poo!...

MCT Club of Malaysia's First Technology Update Event

The date... 24th Oct 2007. The Time... 6.40pm. The MCT Club of Malaysia's First Technology Update event was scheduled to kick off at 7pm. And here was I.. still crawling through the '1-minute-1-inch' traffic. What is going on???? Did someone decide to act out Puteri Gunung Ledang in the middle of the road???

I finally arrived at KLCC at 7.05pm and literally flew up to the 29th Floor... only to find out that others were in the same fate as me.

We finally kicked off at 7.30pm. This session was conducted by myself and my childhood friend and fellow MCT, Ali Reza. Our first event had a turn out of 34 people! Double than what was expected. The audience ranged from System Engineers to Vendors.

The session that day was titled "Get your applications anytime anywhere with Microsoft SoftGrid". SoftGrid is a fairly new product on the Microsoft shelves which was bought over from Softricity. In a nutshell, this products performs Application Virtualization. Benefits include:

1. Central deployment of applications


2. Central control


3. One-time upgrade of software


4. License Control

The session lasted 2-hours and it was shared among me and Ali, where he did all the Live Demos! At the end of the session, we conducted a Q&A session which we gave out 2 Cool, Summer Collection, Redynamics Polo T-shirts!!!

All-in-all, we got feedback from the participants that it was a good session and most wanted more of these so I guess we're doing something right...
